IV Ingredient Information and Details

Lactated Ringers:(LR) This fluid contains sodium chloride, sodium lactate, potassium, and calcium chloride.  It is used for replacing fluids and electrolytes, especially those with low blood pressure or volume. 

Normal saline:(NS)This fluid contains sodium chloride dissolved in sterile water. It quickly rehydrates and works to help with most hydration issues, such as those stemming from diarrhea, vomiting, bleeding and even shock.

D5W: Dextrose is a form of glucose (sugar). Dextrose 5% in water is used to replace lost fluids and provide carbohydrates to the body. It is also given for nutritional support to patients who are unable to eat because of illness, injury, or other medical condition.


Vitamin B complex: This high packed formula helps break down proteins and fats while converting carbohydrates into energy for the body. It’s also known to promote the growth of healthy hair and nails. The complex includes:

                                Vitamin B1: (Thiamine) vitamin B1 is necessary for producing energy at the cellular level as well as proper nerve functioning. It helps fight headaches, migraines, hangovers, and rosacea.

                                Vitamin B2: (Riboflavin) vitamin B2 helps cells produce energy and aids in proper respiration. It fights depression, insomnia, indigestion, muscle fatigue and skin issues.

Many adults are deficient in this vitamin because it’s poorly absorbed in the stomach when taken with medications such as antacids, antibiotics and aspirin.

Vitamin C: A great immune booster and antioxidant, vitamin C helps fight off illnesses while neutralizing harmful chemicals in the body. It’s also believed to kill cancer cells.

 

BiotinBiotin helps the body break down fats, carbohydrates, proteins and build stronger hair, nails, skin elasticity. It may take 3 to 6 months before the condition of your hair or nails improves. Being on anti-seizure medication diminishes your stores and increase your need for supplementation.

Zofran: (Ondansetron) is an antiemetic that prevents or relieves nausea and/or vomiting.

Benadryl: An antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of headaches, allergies, hay fever, and the common cold. These symptoms include rash, itching, watery eyes, itchy nose/throat/eyes, cough, runny nose, and sneezing.  it can also be used to prevent/treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness caused by motion sickness. 

Alpha Lipoic Acid: (ALA) Is an essential fatty acid.  It is required for the production of cellular energy and improves oxygenation in all cells. It is a powerful free radical scavenger, making it an extremely efficient antioxidant.  ALA is both water AND fat soluble thereby allowing it to enter all parts of the cell.  It is even able to penetrate the blood brain barrier and nerve cells.  May lower need for Type 2 diabetes treatment!

NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide): Famously known as the anti-aging enzyme, NAD is also a source of energy for the cells. It helps with DNA repair, gene expression, maintaining chromosome integrity and the proper functioning of mitochondria. Everyone is born with enough NAD+, but it slowly diminishes with age, and the best way to replenish it is through IV infusion.
